How we think the fight might go...

Katniss watched the girl from the trees. Katniss recognized the look, the stance, the careful walk. The girl on the ground—Astrid—was hunting.

Astrid gripped one hand around a sharp, pointed weapon. It looked to be made of bone, or possibly horn. It was long and thick, a sturdy weapon, sure to deliver a kill.

Still, she was out of her element, and she knew it. Astrid’s mother may have trained her since she was young that unicorns were dangerous, and she may have had even more training since then in Rome…but this was a person she was supposed to hunt. She wasn’t so good with people. The unicorns were tricky, but at least they were snarling monsters.

Katniss, who has taken cover as soon as the fight started, narrowed her eyes. This girl was a hunter, but a new one. She wasn’t using the cover of the bushes on the ground, had done little to camouflage herself. With time, she could be a great hunter.

But Katniss wasn’t going to give her time.

Katniss drew her arrow silently from the vantage of the trees.  She held the string back, perfectly motionless, checking her aim.

On the ground, Astrid paused, listening to the stillness of the forest.

Katniss released the arrow.

Predicted Winner: Katniss.

Katniss Everdeen is from Suzanne Collin's Hunger Games trilogy and Astrid is from Diana Peterfreund's Rampant
